Plas Brondanw Chrismas Party
28/12/2024: 3pm - 7pm
Free
You are invited to Parti Plas Brondanw on the 28th of December, from 3 o'clock in the afternoon until the evening. Pianist Gwenno Morgan will play some of her compositions in the library, and we will provide food and drink, but please bring something to share if you can. We have also organized a bouncy castle (weather permitting) so we hope the local children will come and enjoy!
Plas Brondanw is a small mansion from the 16th and 17th centuries, in North Meirionydd. This is the main house of the Brondanw Estate, given to Clough Williams-Ellis by his father in 1908. Clough later became famous for building the village of Portmeirion, but the gardens and landscape around Brondanw are just as typical of his style, but on a more intimate scale. The house and gardens are now in the care of the Clough Williams-Ellis Foundation (YCWEF), and much more information about their activities can be found on their website:
The house is open Wednesday – Sunday 10:30-4:00 all year round, also on Bank Holidays, but closed between Christmas and New Year.
The garden is open every day, year ‘round 10-4. When the cafe is closed payment is via an honesty box on the back of the gate.
The cafe is open from Easter until the end of September, 10-4, Tuesday until Sunday.
We have decided to set a theme each year, going forwards. Items from the Susan Williams-Ellis archive will be curated according to the theme for the year, and this will also be the theme for the open and young open exhibitions. We invite artists who wish to have solo or group shows to consider responding to the theme, if they feel inspired to do so, although this is not a requirement. Events will also be curated to respond to the theme, where appropriate. The themes are deliberately broad and may be interpreted in any way that the artist feels is appropriate. The themes for the next five years are outlined below:
2023: Airbourne
2024: Transformation
2025: Space
2026: Animal / Vegetable / Mineral
2027: Disturbance
2028: The Sea
