Poets Wanted – Open Call

Plas Brondanw, with the support of Literature Wales, is looking for two/two poets to respond to works in the 'Open' exhibition which will be held between the 9th of March and the 5th of May 2024. Over a hundred artists are represented in the show, which is on the theme of 'Transformation'. Some of them are well-known artists, and others are completely new. We are looking for one poet who writes in Welsh, and the other in English, and we will ask the poets to compose at least six poems each, responding to works in the exhibition. We will also ask you to hold a workshop for 8 people on writing ekphrastic poetry (inspired by a work of art), and we will hold an evening with readings of the poems, where the artists and the public will have the opportunity to hear the work. We are offering £400 each to the poets for the composing work, holding a workshop and the poetry reading. All the activities will take place during the period of the exhibition, but we would like you to focus on doing the writing during the first three weeks of the exhibition, so that we can display the poems alongside the artwork..
